The search for a new manager.

With Milan Macala and John Adshead gone, it’s left upto the OFA with quite a huge void to fill. Coach Mohammed Juma and team manager Juma Al Qabi are currently in charge of the national team but after the success we’ve had with Macala, I really think it would be better for Oman if another foreign coach takes over the national team.

Macala made a huge difference to the side, fielding talents such as Ali Al Habsi, Imaad Ali, Badr Mubarak, Ahmed Mubarak and Khalifa Ayil. With one of them already playing in Norway, sources say that the rest of them are now being linked with possible moves to Europe.

I just think that a coach with international experience can make a much bigger impact on the team then a local coach (as long as the Assistant Coach is Omani, it should be fine). I’m not saying that foreign coaches are always successful (look at Saudi Arabia) but with the brilliant young talents coming up, I feel we need someone to nurture them properly – like Macala did.

We have been linked with Bruno Metsu (former coach of Senegal, was manager of them in World Cup 2002 – when they beat France 1 – 0 in the opening game). He is one person that I think could take this team one step further.
